About the Centre

The harbour at Courtown had little activity at the beginning of the second half of the 20th century. Transport of goods at sea, to and from Courtown, had ended and the harbour became increasingly clogged up by sediment. This, and the perennial growth of sand deposits at the harbour mouth, minimised the entry of ships. Before 1981, only a small number of local fishing boats and a few small sailing boats were in the harbour. However, there was an increasing wish to improve the harbour and to develop more activities in it.

Courses

Dinghy Training Courses.

Dinghy Training Courses take place from June to August each year.
Applications forms are available to all paid up Family Members of the Club.

Our courses are run by the committe who employ a team of qualified instructors to teach our junior sailors in accordance with the recommendations of the Irish Sailing Association.

Powerboat Training Courses

Safety Boat Course
The next safety boat course will be held on the 15th & 16th of May.

The price of the course is €350pp.

National Powerboat Certificate
The next National Powerboat Certificate course will be held on the evening of 30th March, all day 31st March and all day 1st April.
